Junko is a an interpreter for Russian, English, and Japanese, from Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan, and a graduate art student at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, in the Native Arts Center Studio Program. She holds a BA in Sculpture from New York State University, Albany.
She was nicknamed "Birch Queen" by local artists in Alaska because she enjoys using birch bark as an art medium. Sh has participatedi n many art shows and music events in Japan, USA, an Russia. Junko has been teaching drawing for 11 years and carving in wood and stone for the past 8 years. This is Junko's 6th year desiging and carving ice for the Kid's Park at Ice Alaska.
Her Masters of Fine Arts Thesis Presentation and Art Show will be this coming October 2015, at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. All are Welcome to attend!
