Saskatchewan Canada
Patricia Leguen was born in Saint-Nazaire, France. She came to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1979 to teach French at the University of Saskatchewan for two years after completing a Master’s degree in English. She studied Fine Arts there and studied sculpture. She immigrated to Canada in 1983 after studying Fine Arts in Nantes, France and completing a Bachelor’s degree in French. In 1985, she completed a Bachelor’s in education and taught for a few years. She started running her own business in 1990 as a translator and conference interpreter. In 1991, she represented Saskatchewan at the national snow sculpture competition in Québec City and won 3rd place. In 1993, she won 1st place and Artist Choice and represented Canada at the international snow sculpture competition. She started ice carving and sand sculpting in 1995 and has been competing at over 120 international competitions ever since. She competed for the first time at Ice Art in Fairbanks in 1996 and won 2nd place in the multi-block competition. In 2000, She won 3rd place and Artist Choice in the multi-block competition with two Russian carvers. She competed 5 times in ice and snow sculpting in Harbin, China since 1999 and always placed in the top four.
When she is not sculpting, she interprets at conferences across Canada, she enjoys riding her Harley across North America in the summer, hunting deer, moose and elk in the fall, rowing on the South Saskatchewan river in her single, and traveling around the world at international snow, ice and sand sculpture competitions.
