BARNAUL, RUSSIA Aleksandr holds two higher degrees, one in Architectural Design and one in Management from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. He has been a carpenter, furniture designer, scientist, even served as an analytical consultant for the Japanese Ministry of Economy. When he was14 years old he fell in love with woodcarving. His favorite material is driftwood. He loves to take a look at a rock or piece of wood to see if there’s usable décor and with a few touches he makes it come alive with its individual character.
He was an organizer of wood and ice festivals in Russia, and as a volunteer he has made almost 300 park sculptures for my region in the last 15 years. He has won 25 prizes in international championships in ice, wood and stone. Now I am an art-director of the First International Driftwood and Rootwood Sculpture Festival in Russia.
