Paul was born and raised in Fairbanks and started carving ice when he was 15 and hasn't been able to quit since. 

When he joined Ice Alaska’s Youth Classic competition as a kid, he never imagined he would one day be making ice art in the Single Block adult Classic.  Now, after almost ten years, after a start with small blocks and basic tools in the Junior competition, he has moved to big tools and much bigger ice in the Single and Multi-Block competitions.  Every year he gets the chance to work with the best variety of a great material, and turn Fairbanks ice into super cool sculptures.
