Mexico City

This is Brian's first trip to Fairbanks and the BP World Ice Art Championships.  He began competing in 2011 with the event in Ottawa Canada. 

Brian is a pastry chef, specializing in chocolate and chocolate sculpture.  He started sculpting ice with Julio Martinez and the Dreaming With Ice Company, sculpting for banquets, hotels, restaurants and catering services.  Besides ice, he also enjoys sculpting in clay and recycling/repurposing other materials.  

He learned sculping empirically studying human anatomy and by studying the fantastic creatures in books.  His favorite creations are monsters, mummies, zombies and nahuales.  (A Nahual is a Mesoamerican mythic human with the ability to transform into other creatures)
