Jim is a longtime resident of Fairbanks, Alaska. He now enjoys his retirement from the IBEW. His hobbies are playing guitar and performing in an old-time Harmonica Band.
In 2000, his wife, Trish, gave him an ice sculpting class as a Christmas Present. He teamed up with Alan Armbruster in for the Single Block in 2001, and has been a regular competitor ever since. In 2004 he teamed up with his 77yr old father, Jim Warner Sr, at the Fairbanks Open, together they won the 2nd Place Award.
With all these sharp tools he has been accumulating, he keeps his paramedic skills on hand in case they are needed.
