There was a lot going on today, a feeling of hustle and bustle. All Double-Block teams are busy working, no talking going on. Their competition ends at 9:00PM tonight with judging taking place shortly after the horn blows. I have my favorites but that’s a secret; I’ll never tell. Come by tonight or tomorrow before the awards ceremony and pick your own favorites. The Awards Ceremony will take place at 8:00PM Friday night on stage near the ticket booth. The stage is worth a photograph also as it is in itself a beautiful ice sculpture carved and assembled during Boot Camp.
There are a couple of new snow sculptures nearing completion. Jim’s Bear, about whom I wrote a few days ago, is nearing completion. This is Jim’s first snow sculpture and it’s looking great. Another snow sculpture that will be ready soon is Steve Cox’s “In My Head”. When complete, you will be able to climb up into the head and look out while someone takes your picture. Half of the sculpture looks happy; half of it looks angry. Be sure you stop by this fun photo op.
One of our volunteer heroes was really busy in the kids’ park today. She was blowing all of last night’s snowfall off of the sculptures in the park. Every time it snows, this needs to be done and our volunteers do such an amazing job of keeping the park clean and the climb on sculptures and games sparkling.
I followed one sign I saw while walking around the park today: Stop by the Gift Shop for Hot Chocolate and Hot Food. They hit the spot.
