The first day of Fall 2021 is Wednesday, September 22. That is the day of the autumnal equinox, when the sun is directly over the equator and hours of daylight and night are roughly equal. And that also means pumpkin spice and everything nice. It also means the ice carving competition for the year 2022 isn't that far away.
Ice Alaska's general membership meeting is October 19th and open to everyone. Place and time will be posted later. Part of this meeting includes the election of candidates for the Board of Directors for Ice Alaska. Terms are for three years and this year there are six member of the board who are running for reelection. These candidates are Bernie Karl, Steve Brice, Eva Hansen, Leigh Anne Hutchison, David Smith and Dean DeMarais. There are three carvers running for seats also: Michael Kowalski, Jeffery Kaiser and Jeff Meyers. The bios for all candidates will be emailed to all paid members of Ice Alaska. All voting will be done by email on the 19th. Dues for the current year must be paid no later than five days prior to the meeting. The link to register and pay online is http://icealaska.org/support/membership.html.
The Ice Alaska nonprofit organization is completely volunteer driven. Without you all who give hours and hours of your time, talent and energy, this magical winter festival and World Ice Art Chamionships could not exist.
