Ice Alaska has a long history of promoting sportsmanship and art through the annual World Ice Art Championships.
This year, with our new begining and new home and new events, we are even engaged in new partnerships. This past weekend, was our first ever Single Person 36 hour carving competition. Mr. JR Ancheta at UAF, and his event photography class participated as official Ice Alaska photographers. Eight Students, Abby Hall, Amanda Byrd, John Daugherty, Leif Van Cise, Nastasia Caole, Peter Paraiso, Rane Lovell, Sarah Manriguez
The UAF Event Photography class were all put through the volunteer expierience, registering as volunteers, badging, and then taking on an assigment to cover the artists as they competeded in this first event of the 2019 World Ice Art Championships.
We have uploaded some of their photos to the One Person Classic pages. They also will be featured in a photo spread with the Fairbanks Daily News Miner. We are happy to see new talent participate in community events and look forward to the future works of these students!
