Ice Alaska may be a short winter event, only 5 weeks, but it takes a year’s worth of planning and preparations to produce this event. We have a dedicated core group of volunteers who spend time, even during the summer months, managing mundane stuff like taxes, organizational certifications and fundraising, we also have equipment to maintain and some of that requires a little invention.
Here, Steve Brice has used his fabricating skills to create wings for the forklift and build some custom ice tongs in preparation for this winter’s Ice Harvest.
The 2020 Event is 5 months away, so beginning this September, we are gradually increasing the frequency of our planning meetings. September Planning Committee will meet the evenings of September 10th and September 24th from 5:30 - 7:00 in the Badger Hall, located inside the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds.
You’re invited to come join and help us produce the 2020 World Ice Art Championships!
