For immediate Release:
The Members of World I.C.E. Association, dba. Ice Alaska held their annual Board Elections this Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Congratulations to Mr. Steve Iverson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mr. John Weed of Orlando, Florida. Mr. Iverson has retained his seat for a second term, and Mr. Weed is newly elected to fill a recently vacated Board position. Board Members serve for 3 years then their seats are opened for election.
The Ice Alaska membership has steadily grown to over 90 Members since reorganizing in 2018. The Organization successfully produced the 2019 World Ice Art Championships at their new home in the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds. Following that success, Ice Alaska was able to sign a long term agreement with the TVSFA, which ensures a permanent home for this annual winter event.
The 2020 World Ice Art Championships is scheduled to begin February 15, 2020, and run (weather permitting) through the end of March. Plans are underway to expand the open park area and add more features, including food trucks and craft vendors, as well as entertainment exhibitions. The Event Planning Committee is meeting every other Tuesday through the remainder of this year and all meetings are open to the public. All interested persons are encouraged to volunteer. Information can be found online at icealaska.org. Be sure to sign up for announcements, become a member, or volunteer using our sign up forms.
