The countdown has begun! Tonight, the last night before we open the gate to the public, the Ice Alaska Park is busy with the sounds of buzzing Dremel Tools, chisels, snow shovels, snow blowers, another layer of water on the ice rink, testing lights, testing the new ticket system, dressing up the warm up building and giftshop area. ..
Tomorrow morning at 10:00, the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce and our Sponsors and Partners will be on hand to cut the Ribbon and officially open the gate to the new Ice Alaska Ice Park! These past four weeks have been absolutely intense as the dedicated core group of volunteers worked all hours of the day, even taking a extra time off from their regular jobs, to create an enchanting and easy to walk through park area.
This Saturday we start our first of three professional ice carving competitions. For many of us who have become regular volunteers, it's the excitement of the competitions that inspired us to become involved with Ice Alaska. We invite you to purchase a season ticket so you can come often and watch these fantastic and talented artists race against the clock to create awe inspiring 3D art.
This year we have three food vendors setting up onsite. Sipping Streams will be inside the Warm Up Building. Just outside will be two food trucks: The Fire and Arctic Habenaro.
We would not be here today if not for the generous support of community minded businesses and individuals. Our Sponsors have a special page of their own. We ask that you consider supporting these fine folks by giving them your business in return for their support of community services and events like ours.
