The World I C E Association dba. Ice Alaska is producing the
2019 World Ice Art Championships
Opening Day: February 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
Our new Venue: Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds at 1800 College Road
We thank the dedicated volunteers who have assisted in our planning and reorganizing over the past 18 months. As our opening day approaches, we have opportunity and need for more volunteers, especially in the ticketing and gift-shop offices. We continue to have need for able-bodied volunteers who are capable of wielding a saw or a chisel, while we finish out the new park design and complete the remainder of ice harvest these final days before opening.
What are some of the benefits of volunteering? We provide a catered hot meal to all volunteers and special in-park volunteer parking. In addition, some cool swag provided by some of our sponsors.
The Ice Alaska Event is a venue built by community minded Alaskans and Friends from the Lower 48, with a vision to the future. Thanks to the Tanana Valley State Fair Association, we have a secure venue for the next generation. We are thankful for our many commercial supporters, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels: Regency Hotel, Fairbanks Daily Newsminer, Chena Hot Springs Resort, Summit Logistics, Vertex, Alaska Airlines, Select PT, Foundation Health Partners, and many more that deserve great thanks. We are excited and encouraged by the growing sponsorships and support from our business community, including grant opportunities from the City of Fairbanks Discretionary Fund, and the Rasmuson Foundation and the Carol H Brice Family Center.
This year’s event will feature three professional competitions, the Single-Person (single block), Two-Person (two block) and Multi Block Classic. We will also host a Youth Ice Sculpting class with competition during School Spring Break, the week of March 10 - 15.
Another new feature this year is the addition of outside food vendors, Sipping Streams Tea Company, The Fire and Arctic Habanaro will be onsite providing a variety of food and beverage for our guests. We will also begin hosting other events within our venue, such as Cirque Noir.
